Complex Decongestive Therapy Course

INTRODUCTION:

This qualifies you to treat clients with all grades of Lymphoedema and Lipoedema.
So many people in the communities are suffering from this crippling condition, your professionalism, education and training in this field will be so welcomed.

RECOGNITION:

  • On completion of online study, theory, practical and case study, submission of your work, and after satisfactory assessment  you will be accredited as a lymphoedema practitioner by Lymphoedema Academy of Australia

 

PRE-REQUISITES:

  • Certificate in Anatomy & Physiology or similar
  • Public & Professional indemnity insurance (required before starting any treatment on patients/clients)
  • Current First Aid certificate preferred 
  • Students must be able to READ,WRITE,SPEAK and UNDERSTAND English fluently. (Translators are not permitted with the L.A.A. courses) 

STUDY PROGRAM: Approx 100 hours

  • LIVE ONLINE TRAINING OVER 3 DAYS
  • Prior learning and online study
  • Anatomy of the circulatory and lymphatic system
  • Physiology of the lymphatic system
  • Stages of lymphoedema
  • Lipoedema, Dercum's and Madelungs disease causing lymphoedema
  • Palliative care 
  • Fibrosis, cellulitis and Papilloma's
  • Radiation, Chemotherapy and Lymphoedema 
  • Nutrition and lymphoedema 
  • Compmlex Decongestive Treatment for lymphoedema (MLDT. skin care, compression,exercise)
  • Basic and advanced bandaging for all grades of lymphoedema. 
  • Compression pumps, leg and arm sleeves demonstrated by OPC Health (previosly OAPL)
  • Medical compression stockings and wraps

ASSESSMENT:

  • Attendance to Live Online meetings
  • Theory exam assessed by educator via Zoom meeting
  • Practical assessment demonstrating the technique of measuring, drainage & bandaging as per the requirments of the Lymphoedema Academy of Australia.
  • Assignments to be completed and submitted to educator by email
  • Students have 6 months to complete the course

PAYMENT:

Cost of Online Training Course: ($1895.00)

  • Direct Debit only
  • Invoice will be emailed to you once registration has been accepted
  • A deposit of $895.00 is required to secure attending the online course
  • Balance needs to be paid no later than 4 weeks prior to commencment of trainig course. Students need to purchase text book or e.book and download resource material before online training starts. Further information on resource material will be supplied after final payment is received

CANCELLATION POLICY:

  • It is the Lymphoedema Academy of Australia policy, to withhold a cancellation fee of $300 for all cancellations prior to 8 weeks of your registered course.
  • Courses cancelled after 8 weeks prior to commencement of your registered course, is non refundable, and a once of transfer to another course in 12 months is acceptable.

  • If for any reason the Lymphoedema Academy of Australia need to cancel any of their courses, all payments received by the students for their course will be refunded in full minus the cost of any resource material that has previously been posted to you.

  • The C.D.T. course is accredited with the L.A.A. Pty Ltd as a Practitioner of Lymphoedema
  • Always encourage your clients to seek Professional Medical assistance prior to Complex Decongestive Therapy.
  • L.A.A. courses are only suggestions in treatment for lymphoedema; it is not replacing medical advice.
  • Public and Professional Insurance is necessary before commencing treatment on any client.
  • It is preferred to have a current first aid certificate for professional clinical practice.
  • The L.A.A. Pty Ltd advice students to become a member of a Lymphoedema Association to keep updated with research and information on Lymphoedema.
  • Students may be removed from the Practitioners Register at the discretion of the Directors of the L.A.A. Pty Ltd
  • Students are required to meet the L.A.A. Pty Ltd; Professional code of Ethics and Student Guidelines to be on the Lymphoedema Register.
