Complex Decongestive Therapy Course

This level qualifies you to treat clients with all grades of Lymphoedema.
So many people in the communities are suffering from this crippling condition, your professionalism, education and training in this field will be so welcomed.

RECOGNITION:

  • Meets the L.A.A. standards offering approx 150 hours education & training for post graduate students.
  • Completing Basic and Advanced levels of Complex Decongestive Treatment. 
  • Accreditation as a "Practitioner of Lymphoedema" treating all grades of lymphoedema           
  • Entry on the Lymphoedema  Academy of Australia Practitioners Register, for free under the section "Find a Practitioner" covering all states of Australia & International countries. 

PRE-REQUISITES:

  • Certificate in Anatomy & Physiology or similar
  • Public & Professional indemnity insurance (required before starting any treatment on patients/clients)
  • Current First Aid certificate preferred 
  • Students must be able to READ,WRITE,SPEAK and UNDERSTAND English fluently. (Translators are not permitted with the L.A.A. courses) 

STUDY PROGRAM: Approx 150 hours

  • Prior learning and online studies
  • Short assignments to be completed and sent to the L.A.A. before course commences
  • 5 days intense practical & theory.                                                                                                                                                                                                     
  • Anatomy of the circulatory and lymphatic system
  • Physiology of the lymphatics
  • Pathology of the lymphatics
  • Stages of lymphoedema
  • Lipoedema, Dercum's and Madelungs disease causing lymphoedema
  • Palliative care 
  • Fibrosis, cellulitis and Papilloma's
  • Radiation, Chemotherapy and Lymphoedema 
  • Nutrition and lymphoedema
  • Compmlex Decongestive Treatment for lymphoedema (MLDT. skin care, compression,exercise)
  • Basic and advanced bandaging for all grades of lymphoedema. 
  • Supply and fit medical compression garments by a representative of Sigvaris (Australia), covering a 3 hour workshop

ASSESSMENT:

  • Theory exam, practical assessment and assignments 
  • Professionalism with practical scenarios in class
  • Work ethics, presentation and attendance
  • Class room policy is a NO MOBILE PHONE rule for everyone, unless for an emergency and accepted by the Trainer.

  • Invoice will be emailed to you once registration has been accepted

CANCELLATION POLICY:

  • It is the L.A.A. policy to withhold a cancellation fee of $300 for all cancellations prior to 12 weeks of your registered course.
  • Courses cancelled after 12 weeks prior to commencement of your registered course, is non refundable, and a once of transfer to another course in 12 months is acceptable.

  • If for any reason the Lymphoedema Academy of Australia need to cancel any of their courses, all payments received by the students for their course will be refunded in full minus the cost of any resource material that has previously been posted to you.

  • Public and Professional Insurance is necessary before commencing treatment on any client.
  • It is preferred to have a current first aid certificate for professional clinical practice.
  • The L.A.A. Pty Ltd advice students to become a member of a Lymphoedema Association to keep updated with research and information on Lymphoedema.
  • Students may be removed from the Practitioners Register at the discretion of the Directors of the L.A.A. Pty Ltd
